My name is Julia Dommel, and I am a DS/Libero from the class of 2025. My volleyball journey started when I first stepped onto the court during my freshman year of high school and immediately fell in love with the sport. I am extremely dedicated and hardworking. I practice daily, mentally and physically. I consistently go to practice twice weekly as well as hitting the gym three times weekly. At the gym, I use specific plyometric exercises made for my position. I practice yoga weekly to keep my body in prime condition to play. I constantly ask for criticism and corrections in order to improve my play as well as doing my own extensive research on collegiate-level volleyball players. What makes me different then others is my appreciation for failure. I take things away from my own personal failure in the sport and redirect the experience into a positive thing to learn from. As soon as I make I mistake, I am able to immediately identify what I did wrong. I listen to my coach's advice and I constantly ask my coach for feedback. I am a team player and am constantly loud and encouraging on the court. I never let up my voice/cheering when I am standing courtside, and always make an attempt to lift up my fellow teammates. While I am very intense and passionate about volleyball, I like to level out my activities with other things I am passionate about. I am a journalist at my school and I enjoy involving myself in the community by writing stories, photographing events, broadcasting sports games, and creating podcasts. I aspire to major in journalism/media when I reach college. As for my other classes, I receive high marks in every subject. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my high school career. I am currently enrolled in three honors classes and one ECE class. In my freshman year, I received an 1100 on the PSAT, and I plan to increase that score this year. I have enrolled in one AP class for my junior year as well as two additional honors classes. I am a very successful student while maintaining a positive social presence. Overall, I am a hardworking student and athlete who is willing to work for what they want. What I lack in talent, I will always makeup with hardworking.
