Hello, my name is Madison O’Connor. I am 5’7” and will graduate in the spring of 2020. My primary position is Libero and my secondary position is Setter. I also play beach volleyball and was honored to earn U18 and U16 bids to the 2018 AAU Beach Jr. Olympic games in California. I have played volleyball since 10 years old and began my high school volleyball career in 6th grade when I was awarded the Libero position on my school’s JV team, despite very strong competition from existing high school players. In 7th grade, I asked to play Setter position to expand my volleyball skills and was awarded the MVP award on my JV team. At a very young age, I developed a love for athletics and began my journey with gymnastics. I trained 12 hours a week and, by the age of 10, was a level 5 gymnast. At that point, I transitioned into the sport that has become my true passion – Volleyball.
I have been told many times that I am very coachable, exhibit strong leadership qualities both on and off the court, and perform well under pressure. I envision myself as a positive influence, playing at the collegiate level, and contributing to an energetic and cohesive team. I understand that academics are equally important and have maintained high academic goals throughout high school. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA, member of the National Honor Society, ASL Honor Society and consistently earn Principal's Honor Roll. My goal in college is to major in Business Management and eventually earn my MBA, to follow in my father’s footsteps.
As I grow both physically and mentally, I understand the importance of a strong character and using my gifts to give back to the community. I served as Volunteer Youth Volleyball Coach for Campo YMCA for two seasons and currently volunteer as a sign language teacher to elementary students, as well as a Big Sister for an autistic student in my high school.
Thank you for checking out my profile and I look forward to hearing from you soon! :) God Bless, Madison O’Connor
