My name is Bailey Smallwood, I am in my Junior year of high school and a Libero/DS from Lehigh Acres, Florida. I've been playing competitive volleyball since eighth grade and have just fallen in love with the sport. I was on Varsity for my High School my freshman year and was a starting player throughout most of my high school career. Last year I was awarded Most Valuable Player of the Year for indoor and beach volleyball. After high school, I want to play college volleyball and master Kinesiology to become a physical therapist. When I am not at volleyball I enjoy running and working out. This year I joined my high school's track team and I am running the 800 and possibly the 1600. Hobbies that I have that don't include athletics is 4-H, reading, going to church and youth group, and spending time with my family.
Despite only playing for four years, I have always been dedicated to getting better at volleyball. Always put 110% into every practice or game that I play. Something that coaches always mention about me is that I always have a good attitude. No matter what the score is, I always maintain a positive mindset about everything. As a libero I have never been able to celebrate massive kills that I get, so I love being everyone else's biggest cheerleader. I am a confident player but I am also coachable. I'm a fast learner, a people person, and very social. Something that I have had to do while playing high school, especially with a team not at a very high level of play, is celebrate even when losing 20-8. Hyping up my team is something I am very good at and knowing exactly what to do when a teammate is down is something I pride myself in. Even after playing four games in one day I always manage to put all my energy and effort on the court. My goal for every game is not to leave the court with regrets, that is why no matter where the ball is I will go for it and throw my body on the floor, even if it might not be the most graceful dive.
