My name is Hanna Sifford... "THE BABY"
I am pretty sure that you may be curious about my choice of words "The Baby"…Well, allow me to explain.
I am the youngest of three children in my family. I have two older and super protective big brothers. Entering elementary, middle and high school after my big brothers was not easy – let’s just say I had a lot of cleaning up to do!!! I was often referred to as the “Sifford little sister”. Being the baby and always being challenged, over powered and bossed around by my older brothers has taught me a special skill that I have applied to school, life and most importantly volleyball. That skill is getting myself noticed, showing people who I am and what I am capable of. Don’t let people label you or think they know who you are …. show them!
Academically, my brothers were a little more interested in the social aspect of school rather than the academics and struggled with their grades. My teachers quickly learned that I was not just another Sifford coming through the school system, but I was the Sifford that was going to graduate with honors. I work hard in school and push myself to take advanced and honor classes and go the extra mile in all my classes.
Athletically, I received MVP my freshman year of high school Last year was my sophomore year and I was the only sophomore to make the varsity team! Guess what I was called…”the baby”. It was not easy being the baby and often playing in a position before a junior or senior player but I held my own and had an amazing season. I was the MVP player and captain of my AAU team. Coach had to make changes in the 2018 season with our team positions due to injuries and girls no longer able to play and I showed my coach that I will play any position that he needs me to. Train and coach me in any position and I will do my very best! Outside hitter is my favorite position but I have also played the positions of defensive specialist, middle and right side. Thanks to my brothers – tell me what to do and I will do it and do it well!!!
For the 2019 season I am playing for the No Name Volleyball Club on the U18 Open team. It has been amazing playing with the older players (four have already been recruited to D1 schools). I have learned a lot this season and I am looking forward to so many exciting things happening for the 2019/20 indoor season, followed by beach volleyball this summer and graduating June 4, 2020.
I am your "all around" team player. All this sounds impressive, but wait until you meet me in person. I am genuine, honest, dedicated, fun, a leader and will make you proud to be one of your players!
Hope we meet soon!
Hanna,
Your 2020 OH, DS
