Joanna Christenson '13 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'8" setter. Even though I'm not the tallest, I have been one of the better blockers on my team for a couple years now. Being a setter I realize that this is an important skill because the setter is the one on the right side usually blocking the opposing team's main hitter, so I continue to strive to become better. I always work hard and do whatever my coach tells me to. I had the opprotunity to play with younger girls this past year and be their team captain. I made sure to set a good example to them of hard work and determination and our team ended up being pretty successful. I would love to play volleyball in college. Being from Hawai'i I'd like to stay more towards the west coast, but that isn't keeping me from looking at other colleges around the nation. I kind of like the feeling of a small school, knowing my teachers and other classmates, but I am totally open to different types of schools. My family does qualify for federal aid/grants for when I apply for the FAFSA. I have not completely decided on a major yet, but I have narrowed it down to possibly education, sociology, or psycology. I also kind of like math and I have had a recent interest in architecture. My goal for athletics is to continue to grow as a player and be able to impact my team.
