My name is Alyssa Worden and I am an Outside/Rightside Hitter for the class of 2023.
My varsity volleyball team winning our first conference championship in the history of the school was definitely a highlight of my freshman year. A few months later my travel team won the Mizuno Championship 15s division in Wisconsin. That year was so exciting because I played a key role in something that was bigger than me. Watching my school celebrate that conference win and my teammates rallying together like family made me appreciate why I love this game and how hard everyone works to make it happen. I’ve been playing volleyball for about 7 years now and I’ve never felt anything better than playing the game I love with the people I love.
That said, I know it is not always about winning. There is a great deal of mental work and preparation that comes with playing this game. I would like to pursue an education in Sports Psychology, to assist future athletes with their mental preparedness. I recognize that growth in my mental game is just as important as my physical game. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
I played on the 18 Elite team at Sports Performance in Aurora Illinois as a starting, six rotation outside hitter, and we took 2nd place in 18 Open at the 48th AAU Junior National Volleyball Tournament. I also made the 2021 Ultra Ankle JVA All National Team Class of 2023
I was captain of my club team and made All Conference-1st team during my school season. I was also nominated to the 2020 AVCA Phenom List. I maintain a 4.0 GPA.
I am looking forward to making a big impact and leading my teams on an incredible journey these next three years. I am optimistic about what the future holds in finding the school that will be right for me.
