Hello Coaches,
My name is Olivia Roberts, and I am a Senior at Bloomington High School South in Indiana and play club for BTownVBC. I am a 4.1 AP/honors student and plan to study Education to become a teacher and hope to one day coach volleyball.
I am a team-first player and always play with a positive attitude and full effort in any role that benefits my team and coaches. I can be a utility player and have played every position (except libero) over 8 seasons of club and 4 seasons of high school volleyball. In my first year of club, I was selected as a setter for a 12-1s team as an 11 year old 5th grader because of my good hands. As I grew taller, I played middle hitter for multiple seasons but went back to setting (and RS in a 6-2) during 14s club. Once I reached high school, I started pin hitting and continued middle hitting. In 16s, I was a utility player for BTownVBC 16-Red, and played OH/DS and started as a serving MH in multiple tournaments in Premier division.
For the 2024 varsity high school season, I played multiple positions for my team including OH (6-rotation), DS, RS, and MH. I started games at all four of those positions throughout the season, with the most starts at 6-rotation OH and DS. I have always been a strong server and led Conference Indiana 4A in ace percentage as a junior at 21.2% (with 90% serve percentage).
As a senior, I fulfilled a new role for my varsity team as a serving DS in a starting spot. I played primarily in the right back spot, became skilled at covering tips and using my quick setting hands to dig and pass the ball to my setter. I led the team in serve percentage with over 90% accuracy and few errors, 12% ace percentage but a very high number of serving points runs including key aces against high level 4A teams I led my team in serve receive accuracy and take pride in my reliable receive and accurate passing. My team voted and awarded me with the Bloomington South Captain Award at the end of season and I also earned an Academic All State Gold Award.
I am in my fourth season with BTownVBC. This season I am excited for the opportunity to be a 6-rotation OH for BTownVBC 18-Red. I look forward to the opportunity of a leadership role and helping my team both offensively and defensively. I love BTownVBC because we get to learn from current Indiana University players and coaches, and train inside Wilkinson Hall on the IU campus.
I am a multi-sport athlete and have also played 3 years of softball for Bloomington South HS. I led my JV team for the past two seasons in batting average and fielding percentage, and currently play on my varsity team as a junior first baseman and backup pitcher. I also previously played basketball for 6 years. I work on weightlifting and strength & agility training through private workouts. During my training, I tested at 225 lbs for deadlift and 21.6" for vertical jump.
Thank you for your interest and for visiting my profile!
