I started playing at a young age. In 4th grade, the 5th grade team needed 2 extra girls. Of 28 girls that tried out I was only 1/2 that made it. Ever since then, I’ve been working hard to try to become the best volleyball player I can be. My coaches over the past few years have pushed and motivated me, so I can do everything I am capable of. They have helped me realize that being a good volleyball player is more than just being good on the court. You have to be a coachable player as well as a good teammate. They’ve also helped me to realize that volleyball is more than just about winning, is about the relationships you form on and off the court. Your team is like your family and you will do anything for each other. You help them become a better player and are always supportive of them. Volleyball is about making friends and life long memories.
Since I was on the 2’s team for 2 years, I learned a lot of things. Including, no matter your size or shape you can do anything. I was an outside hitter when I was 5’0. I realized it wasn’t about how hard you hit the ball, it’s about where you placed the ball. I got on the 14 Gold this year and it helped me to understand the game at a higher level. Even though I am a libero on this team, hitting is a big part of my spot. We do hitting drills everyday and during team scrimmage setters will still set liberos.
My parents installed an indoor court so I am able to practice everyday. I keep stats of my progress throughout the year. We also have an AirCat, which helps me when my sister is unavailable to play. I have it usually attack balls at me and help me to serve receive. I am dedicated to this sport and always try to become a better teammate. I will always give 110% at practice and during matches.
I want to play college volleyball because I want to continue making new friends and memories. I’ve wanted to play college volleyball ever since my parents took me to my first Purdue volleyball game. I think I would be a great college volleyball player because I am motivated to train and dedicated to become better. I’m passionate about this sport and work hard to become the best teammate and player I can be.
