My name is Kennedy Oselka, and I am a OH/DS for the class of 2023. I have been playing volleyball for 3 years now and I feel that I am improving and loving the sport more and more everyday. Whenever I step onto the court I am not only trying to better myself but the people around me. I am a very insightful player that is able to play in the front or back row if needed.
When I first started playing volleyball in 13s I made a classic team. Then in 14s I made another classic team, this is when I realized I wanted to become more serious about volleyball and play in college. I then went to my parents and asked them if i could get a trainer to improve my physical strength and condition. After my 14s season ended I worked with my trainer every week and kept getting stronger and stronger. Finally my freshman year of high school rolls around the corner and volleyball tryouts started. I tried out and made varsity as a starting OH and played all around. After high school season was over, club tryouts were starting. I tried out for 15s and made a 16s open team. I am now playing in the Windy City Power League as an OH. I enjoy playing in the 16s open because it is very challenging and pushes to become a better and smarter player.
In my next few years of high school I will determine what colleges would best fit my volleyball and academic expectations. Some goals and skills I hope to improve on are my court vision, my vertical, quickness, and overall consistency. As I hope to improve athletically I also hope to improve academically as well. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and aspire to reach 4.0. As much as I love volleyball I know I need to focus on maintaining good grades.
