When I was 9 years old, my mom took me to our local YMCA with the intention of joining a soccer program that friends of mine encouraged me to do with them. At the last minute, I asked if I could join their volleyball program instead. I did, and there was no looking back! Volleyball is a huge part of my universe, and it has without doubt helped shape the person I have become. I have been playing school ball for 7 years now, and I will be entering my 8th year of club volleyball this fall. For 4 of those years, I played on National level teams for Dunes Volleyball Club in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, during which I had the amazing opportunity to compete at Nationals in Orlando, Florida every year. I earned a starting position playing all the way around my first year, and maintained that position all the way through. I became a team leader, a motivator, and assumed the role of floor captain. I was recently told by my assistant Varsity coach that I am the "bus driver" of the team. My attitude & positivity on the court is contagious to the rest of teammates. Furthermore, I see myself as a player who has strong workmanship, a high level of agility, and extreme versatility. With track as my secondary sport, speed is another strength on mine. For such a reason, I decided to focus on my primary position being libero. In a defensive role, I can collectively use all my strongest attributes to play my best level of game. I am very good at reading the block & being there to support my front line. I am not afraid to sacrafice myself to make sure I keep the ball up & in play!
In conclusion, playing in college is the ultimate end goal for all the hard work & dedication I have invested over the past 7 years! It is important to me to play on a team where I will continue to be challenged and to constantly grow as a player. I hope to find the school that can support this goal & also where I can achieve a degree in my major of choice. A scholarship is very important to me and to my family as well.
