Abigail Hughes '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Abigail Hughes.  Volleyball has been my main sport since I was 7 years old. I started getting serious about the sport when I was in middle school and knew that it would be something that I wanted to do in life. I started playing club ball in 2nd grade and have continued through the years moving to limited travel and then full travel.   I played in middle school for 7th and 8th grade. Then in high school, I played on the freshman team, and in my sophomore year I was on JV.  Then Junior and Senior years I was on Varsity. I currently just finished playing Varsity for my Senior Year. For the past few years, I have been a DS/Libero for each team I have played on. Playing that position gives me a full perspective of the court and full leadership of the back row. Being a leader on and off the court is important to me because I can use my voice to support and motivate my teammates. To me, a leader is someone who pushes their teammates to do better, pushes themselves even harder, and someone who uses their voice to make a difference on the court. I believe that I stand out in that way.
