Personal Statement
I have been playing high level volleyball for five years now within regional, national, and international teams. From the first day I knew I had a passion for the sport. I love being apart of a team and working with other athletes. I am a very determined, coachable player that strives to improve in every training session. I use both winning and loosing as a major part of my athletic journey in helping me become a better and stronger athlete. On court I am very dynamic. I focus on every single game and I aim to anticipate, predict, and execute each point with determination. This is why this fast moving and energetic sport suits my abilities so well.
I have been a part of the England U17’s squad from 2020-22, in which I was selected to play abroad in Portugal, along with being selected for national events. Due to personal circumstances I had to leave the England squad, however I have been recently scouted by the Junior U19 England coaches and have been asked to attend the next England training camp.
My passion for volleyball has enabled me to learn from my main coach but I have also gained skills and inspiration from different coaches within volleyball and beach volleyball camps around the country. With this I am fully adaptable to different defence systems and strategies and my under 15 students have benefited from my knowledge in my coaching sessions twice a week.
I am just about to start my level 3 National Diploma in Sports Science which will lead me into studying a bachelor’s degree within this specialism. My area of interest lies mainly in kinesiology and sport applied physiology. I have also been invited on, and currently doing a Diploma in Sporting Excellence affiliated though Volleyball England. This course is teaching me life-skills, in particular the effects that stress and injury could have on my mental wellbeing. I have already been challenged by such situations, having to isolate for a week by myself in a hotel room, whilst on an England team international volleyball camp because I was infected with Covid 19. I have used this as a positive experience and developed my independence further.
I will not let the team or the University down.
