Personal Statement
My future goals and aspirations while attending college is to maintain a steady balance between my academics, sports and personal life. Growing up traversing through different countries and adapting to their cultures and traditions have equipped me with the necessary morals and a phenomenal mindset which have aided me to be disciplined towards achieving my goals. This year, I willl be focusing on excelling in academics and playing to my highest capability in volleyball. I want to have the best results! On the court, whenever I see my teammates doubt themselves or negatively say bad about themselves, I like to reaffirm them by giving affirmation to help them remember how talented they are and how it is OK to make mistakes.
Regarding this leadership attribute, I like to self-reflect on myself during the season and aim towards some goals to help me personally play better. With these goals, I then like to assist my teammates by sharing advice and using it to support their ability to perform better. I believe that I could be a good candidate for the team because I got the Coaches Award this year. This award was given to me because, during my sophomore year, I proved to my coaches that I was a very dedicated, hardworking student-athlete, and because of all of my attributes, next year, I will be awarded a co-captain which has a lot of responsibilities, and leadership in the role itself.
All my life, I've lived and visited many countries. I have spent most of my school years in the French curriculum, where extracurricular activities, such as sports, leadership clubs, and services weren't practiced as much. For the longest time, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue. However, Two years ago, my cousin, who is currently playing in college, introduced me to this sport. Out of the other sports I play, I personally have a much deeper connection with this sport. I want to be better, grow more, develop my skills, and ensure that during this experience, I will grow into the student-athlete I envision to be. From a very early age in life, growing up, I was always told I had so much potential reason for being a successful athlete because of my father. The reason for this being so is because my father played professional basketball in France. So with him teaching me throughout life about what it takes for an athlete to be, I have taken this into consideration and decided that playing sports is something I have a strong passion for and will love to continue in college as well as complete my degree.
