Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Elif. I have been playing volleyball for 10 years and I am the team captain for a long time. I played in different teams and played in the National Championship 3 times. I played in various competitive teams, worked with coaches and teammates of different characters. From angry and unpermissive coaches to calm coaches, and from competitive and ambitious team mates to shy and quiet team mates, I’ve worked with people of various characters. This taught me to be resilient, empathetic, and patient. .Also overall, volleyball taught me to be a team player, a leader, and a friend.
On the court, I follow the game very carefully, and I have quick movement and a strong jump serve.
In the classroom, I’m a very curious, teachable, and self-improving person. I take difficult courses to improve myself and study really hard to maintain a high GPA. I am really interested in AI and engineering. Last year during the quarantine, I dedicated myself to studying AI, Python, and advanced math, taking 20 different certified courses on and watching different videos on YouTube.
In school, I am in different clubs such as Robotics, Interact, UNICEF, and English magazine. I also volunteer outside of school. Two days a week, I give online English lessons to children who study in public school and need some assistance. Moreover, every week I post an article about the sustainability and development goals of the UN in the blog I created: Planethics.
I am very mindful of the environment we live in, and I try to do my best to improve these conditions.
I have always admired a woman who is strong both athletically and academically, and since I was a child, I hoped to be one. I am looking for options where I can both play volleyball and be a successful student. I would be a beneficial recruit because I will do my best to put my college in an optimal position both academically and athletically. I believe I have the ability to be a part of your team and contribute to its future success.
