Personal Statement
I'm Vienne Meszes, I am a middle blocker and outside hitter. I am from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and would be an advantage to your program as both an indoor and/or beach athlete. I've just finished playing my freshman year in the inaugural season for the Comets at Western Iowa Tech Community College as co-captain and am looking to transfer in Fall 2024. Having only been introduced to beach volleyball 2 years before moving to Iowa, I was developing fast as a blocker under great coaching and training on the same courts as the Australian Olympians Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar. I’m an international multi-skilled athlete with national-level experience playing middle as well as experience playing outside and opposite.
My coach identified my assets as my physical strength, timing and connection with setters and, my ability to always make myself available to swing in transition situations. You will find that I am a dependable, hard-working, and coachable athlete who thrives in intense, competitive environments. I am currently studying Exercise Science and Kinesiology and I work just as hard at my studies with my freshman GPA being 3.29.
I had planned to commit to Coach Makayla Holcombe Castro at Spartanburg Methodist College for Fall 2024 for both indoor and beach when her school's funding was restricted and the plans fell through during their switch from NJCAA to NAIA. I understand I am late in the search but I would greatly appreciate it if you would give me a chance to see if I could fit your needs or fill any last places.
I'd love the opportunity to develop my skills under your coaching. I am very passionate about volleyball and this is not just a college sport for me but part of my journey into a long-term career involved in the sport. Below is some of my athletic achievements so you can get an idea of what kind of player I am.
