Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Veronika. I come from a small town in Croatia called Omiš. When I was in a fourth grade, we didn't have a lot of sports in my hometown, I had two options: volleyball or basketball. It was a tough one, in the end, I decided to play volleyball. That was the best decision I have ever made. My life from that point on has changed a lot. My behaviour was a mess when I started playing volleyball but thanks to my growing love for it and my coaches, it has never been better. I started taking volleyball more seriously and doing my best. With my hard work and discipline I earned my place in the Croatian National Team U17 where I was chosen among the 12 best volleyball players in my country. Before that, I have won an MVP award in a tournament, first place in another two tournaments, and a whole bunch of other awards. Once I had a very bad day at the tournament, I was sad and depressed not being able to achieve the wanted outcome, and my coach said something I will never forget: "An athlete does not give up, because if he does, he is not one." This sentence keeps ringing in my ear when things don't go the way I want to and gives me the strength to do my best. My dream from that moment on was clear. I want to play in an arena with thousands of people shouting out my team name while getting the best possible education in USA your college can provide to me. It would be my honor if you'd like to help me achieve that dream.
