Personal Statement
Someone once said to me; "Living life as a student-athlete is not an easy feat as you are constantly trying to balance your social life, your athletics and your grades", the statement is true in a certain manner. I have been playing varsity sports for seven years, I joined varsity basketball when I was in 7th grade and I knew nothing about it. I knew I had to start from the bottom, that I wasn't going to be the starter. Knowing that only pushed me into working harder than most players in the team and it paid off. The year after I became a starter and when I was a sophomore I became the Girls Varsity Basketball and Girls Varsity Soccer captain.
One thing is for sure, it was not easy. As the person said, it was extremely difficult to cope with my personal problems, my athletics and my academic life. I am not expecting the university to be any easier. I know that once again, I will have to start from the bottom and work harder than I normally do and I am totally okay and excited about it. It all comes down to balance, that is what I have been doing for the past 7 years and I will do so again for the opportunity to play at the university level. What I'm trying to say is that I don't give up easily. When I give myself a goal, I tend to not give up and I tend to utilize all my research in order to better myself.
