Personal Statement
My name is Kyla Pearce, I'm a 15-year-old girl who dreams of playing D1 Volleyball after I graduate in 2026. I live in North Brighton South Australia and I go to school at Brighton Secondary School. I know it says I go to Brisbane Grammar School in my profile but that was the closest school I could find to Brighton Secondary School. I am passionate about volleyball and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top. I have been playing volleyball since I was eleven years old. Since I first stepped on the court, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. I know that playing in college is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
In 2023, during school, I played in the year 9 girls' honours team and we came 1st in the South Australian Schools Cup and 6th in Australia in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup. Outside of school, I play for the USC Lions Volleyball Club. I have played in Div 1 for two years (2022-2023) in Under 15's and 17's, in both age groups my team has come 1st. I am also in SASI or as it is also known, the South Australian Sports Institute, in their volleyball program; it's my first year and I'm in tier 4.
I have quick movement on the court and I am willing to put my body on the line to save the ball. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest-working players and one of the hardest-working recruits you’ll find.
I want to go to a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. I am open to all possibilities and ultimately want to find the right college match at the highest possible level. I hope to be a great role model for all my peers and make my parents proud.
