Personal Statement
Hello coach,
I am Beaudine Verweij from the city of Weert, the Netherlands, 20 years old and 6’4”. I have been playing volleyball since I was 8 years old and have fallen in love with this sport over the years. I have a an older brother and sister who are twins. They play volleyball too, my brother even plays in the Belgian national league since 2020.
I am a spontaneous girl who likes to meet new people and face new challenges. That’s also why I chose to continue my study in the US instead of staying at home. I am a real team player and like to inspire other people to get the best out of the team.
When I was 16 years old I played for the club Peelpush in Meijel, the Netherlands and with this team we made it to the national championship under 18, which we won! After that I was introduced to a Belgian agency that helped get a scholarship for playing volleyball in the US.
My freshman year I played for the University of Alaska in Fairbanks ( Division 2) and after that I transferred to play division 1 JUCO in Pensacola Florida.
I was the starting Middle at Pensacola State College. After this season I was ranked 4th in the US and 1st in the state of Florida with 1.59 blocks per set.
After that year I transferred to UNC-Greensboro in North Carolina. Unfortunately this School is not the right fit for me. Because of the ongoing pandemic I was given the opportunity to play a fifth year in the USA. I would love to use this opportunity to stay in America longer. Unfortunately my current program has already announced that they will not be sponsoring a fifth year.
Since I am a Junior, I have 2 years of eligibility left. I excel at blocking and hitting on the middle position as well as on the opposite position. I am also open to fill the position of outside hitter since I sometimes play that position during practice.
I work very hard to improve myself both on the court and in the classroom, I currently have a 3.00+ GPA and I major in Economics.
I am looking for a 4 year school where I can grow as a volleybal player and where I can earn a degree in Economics
