Abigail Janzen '20 Recruiting Profile

Volleyball has shaped who I am and how I've gotten to be where I am today. I hadn't had a lot of luck with club. But then as a high school Freshman, I had a coach who didn't care about the politics that some clubs did. He played the best players regardless of age, grade, or prior high school playing time. That really motivated me to keep playing the sport I love, and because of that, I've grown as a person, both on and off the court. I met some of my closest friends and had an amazing high school experience as a student athlete. This sport has taught me to become only a good leader - leading the back row, running open gyms as a rising senior, and coaching an 8th grade AAU team. It has also taught me how to communicate based on an individual's preferences and personality. Finally, having a busy schedule of classes, school and club volleyball, and chorus/band has helped me learn how to manage my time, and remain productive and successful.  I am excited for my next chapter as a college student athlete, dedicated to being successful on the court and in the classroom.
