Alexis Hayes '18 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to play volleyball at the collegiate level. When I think of college, I envision playing the sport I love and building life-long friendships with my teammates. Whenever I have attended recruitment seminars the speaker always said that “College volleyball is a huge commitment. If you play college volleyball your life will revolve around volleyball”. To me, that sounds perfect. I would have no problem playing volleyball every day because it is what I’m passionate about and love to do. 

I have played club volleyball for 6 years, the first 3 with my school team and the last 3 I spent playing for Platform Elite on their National team (top team) each year. I was the starting outside hitter for my high school's varsity team my sophomore year. With Platform, I have traveled to many qualifiers and competed in many out of state tournaments. At the end of July of 2016 I traveled to Florida to compete in the HP International Championships on the Iowa Womens International Team. This is something I was very excited about and it was an amazing experience. 

Apart from indoor volleyball, I have been playing sand volleyball for 3 years. My sand partner and I have been, and still are being coached by a former AVP player and coach at Platform Elite, Dawn Kerr. My partner and I placed 3rd at Iowa Regionals last summer (2015) which qualified us to play in the USA High Performance Beach Championships in Santa Monica, California. This was a great experience and a trip I'll never forget. This year we have placed 2nd and 3rd in our tournaments so far, taking 3rd place at regionals again.
