Hi there! My name is Jessica Jacobs and I am a sophomore this year at Hawkeye Community College. It's crazy how fast time flys! I have recently transferred from William Jewell College (GLVC Division II conference) in Liberty, Missouri. I chose to return home last minute, and I am looking to transfer to another college where I can continue with my education as well as play volleyball.
My primary position is a middle hitter/blocker. My secondary position is right-side hitter. This past year academically at Jewell, I was one who earned the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference award for maintaining a high GPA. Likewise, during the season, I had 21 kills, 3 solo blocks, and 14 assistant blocks as a freshman. Our overall record was 11-21. I made an appearance in 14 out of the 21 games and had 11 digs and 2 assists as well. I was also nominated as Athlete of the Month in the weight room as a freshman at William Jewell College.
I graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School and have been playing volleyball since fourth grade. I have played with many club teams: CIA, 6Pack, and Iowa Elite. I loved these times and which I could go back, but when it comes to volleyball, I have many strengths. My height and athletic ability make me a great blocker and a hitter with strong velocity. I consider myself to be a strong communicator, an aggressive server, and a good passer. I feel that I can do whatever it takes to help my team be successful on and off the court. It is important for me to spend as much time in the weight room as well. My teachers and peers admire my leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. I volunteer to help out with church and community services in my free time. I enjoy babysitting as well as working at Walmart.
In the future, my plan is to become an elementary education teacher as well as a volleyball coach. I am wanting to earn my middle school endorsement in teaching as well. My goal is to become apart of a team that has the same passion for volleyball as me. I consider myself a very hard worker and a strong communicator. I believe that communication is key to everything! My family, sports, coaches, and academics matter a great deal to me. Both of my parents have gone to college, and they each have an established career. I hope to follow in their footsteps.
I am looking to transfer to a new home for my last two years of college in the Fall of 2021.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. I appreciate your time.
Jessica Jacobs
