My name is Emma Tallman and I am a 6’2” middle hitter from Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. I started my volleyball journey in 5th grade, and since then my love for the sport has kept growing. Volleyball has taught me so much in my life and I am so thankful for that. It is on the court that I am able to have fun, be confident, and let all of my worries wash away. Volleyball is my second home.
Volleyball has done a lot for me over the years, but I have also made sure that I do as much as I can for this sport as well. Being in the gym is one of my favorite things. I am a consistent hard worker and give my all to this sport. When thinking about my goals, my top priority is to be better walking out of the gym than I was walking in. I’m dedicated to this sport and my team. I strive to get better and am willing to work hard to prove my skills. My rate of growth over the past three seasons is a testimony as to how hard I work. There is no comparison as to where I am now versus where I was during my freshman year. I know I am not at my peak yet, and I do have a lot more to learn and improve on, but that is why I am so excited for a college athletic opportunity. I want to be pushed to get better and I want to put in 100% to improve my skills.
Academics are also very important to me. My family has always taught me to work hard, and I take that to heart in the classroom. Although it isn’t always easy, I prioritize school to maintain my 3.9 GPA. An accomplishment that I am proud of is that I have been on the Presidential Honor Roll each semester of high school.
As a result, I strongly feel that I would be a good addition to any team. I am very excited about my future and cannot wait to see where it takes me!
