I first became interested in volleyball when I was in 3rd grade and I watched my mom play rec ball with her friends. At that time I had already been playing basketball; but after watching my mom play, I became obsessed with volleyball. I immediately began playing rec volleyball and loved it. I started playing club volleyball in sixth grade and have played as much volleyball as I could since. I am a very versatile player. I play an OH and have played a lot as a DS. My high school sophomore year, I also learned to play opposite side hitter.
My high school freshman volleyball season was very challenging for me mentally and physically. As a freshman I started off playing on varsity; but shortly after the season had started I had an ankle injury. I was devastated that I had gotten hurt so early in the season. That injury, however, helped me discover my future profession. My dad took me to a local chiropractor to see if he could help in my recovery. He was amazing and cut my recovery time in half. He told me I would be back on the court playing in no time and he was right. While meeting with him for weekly visits, I became very interested in the way he had helped me to recover in such a short period of time. I gained a passion to want to do the same for others. While I was recovering, I was moved to the JV team. I, however, worked hard to get moved back up to varsity by the end of the season. I ultimately lettered my freshman year.
I love watching and playing volleyball. I also enjoy helping younger players learn the game. I take any opportunity I have to help with clinics and camps for younger girls. I would like to start coaching younger players and plan to volunteer to coach youth rec volleyball in the spring.. Without volleyball, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
