Years ago, I would have told you I only care about my faith and academics. Now volleyball has squeezed its way into my heart and isn't ever going to leave. In high school, my main goal is to maintain my 4.00 GPA, and the same when I reach college. I hope to go above and beyond in everything that I can academically, but I still want a good chance at playing the sport I love. I knew that volleyball was going to be a huge part of my life when my family really started supporting me. They have always been great supporting factors, but when they noticed that this was something I could work at and become even greater, they started pushing me to greater heights.
As the only sophomore on varsity last year, I really had to step up and take a leading position for my team. We struggled last year, but I'm ready to grow and become closer to my teammates as we tackle this next season. I've learned that I have the capability to become a leader, and I plan to do so. A large obstacle I over came this last season was starting the season with people I hadn't played with much. I love my team, but beginning with virtually nobody was tough for me. I was able to overcome this by really taking on a leading role, and having the support of my coaches and parents behind me. Coaches have constantly told me that my 'bubbly' personality and grit are great additions to their team, and I strive to bring a great attitude every chance I am given.
Once again the only player of my grade on varsity, I am overcoming obstacles and have found a way to be a strong leader on our team. I was voted captain for one of our recent games, and have helped our new coaches in finding drills that work well for us. Our season has been really good this season, only narrowly losing one game, and I'm prepared for the rest of the season to show everybody around us who we really are and how we can truly play. I think that one of the main reasons we have been doing so well is our team unity that we have instilled. It is because of personalities like ours that help create fantastic teams.
