My name is McKenzie Martin and I am 17 years old. My passion for volleyball started when I went to a private school in 3rd grade and the only sport offered was volleyball for girls. I was shy and did not care much about sports until then. After I started playing, I really enjoyed the game.
I started public school in 5th grade and tried out for the middle school team and made the team. I played my entire middle school years as a defensive specialist. I made the freshman team in 8th grade (2019-20) and my role changed to a middle hitter. My freshman year I played Middle hitter. My sophomore year I played middle hitter and Defensive Specialist for the Jr Varsity team and Middle hitter/blocker for Varsity team. My Junior year I switched schools and I play on the Varsity team as a middle.
What makes me different from any other player? I had to have PT and OT due to I could not move my right side of body correctly. I am not a quitter and I practice over and over until I get it right. I am a team player and try to lift up people when they feel discouraged and down. This year 2023 I made the KHEAA stats leader for top 50 in Kentucky 9 weeks for blocks. I also was rewarded 3 awards for volleyball. Most blocks, best attacker and second place kills. I love playing volleyball and hope to get a scholarship and pursue playing volleyball for college and become a vet assistant.
