Ever since I began playing volleyball, 9 years ago, I have wanted to play in college. I want to continue to become a better athlete and competitive player. I truly enjoy being in the gym with my teammates and getting reps/instruction from my coaches so I can always be working to be the best I can be. I want to be pushed for excellence and I give 110% at every practice, and in every game.
During my 2021 Varsity season I was in the Top 10 in Kills per set for the State of Kentucky, finishing the season at #6. I was recognized for All District First Team and All Region First Team. I work hard in the classroom and am a 4-time All Academic First Team. I graduated top 10 in my class, was honored with Valedictorian and I received the award for Scholar Athlete of the Year 2022.
During my Freshman year (2022) at University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, I am a starter, playing a 6 rotation as an OH/DS. As our season was underway I lead the team in service aces, kills, and was 2nd in digs. I rolled my ankle in early October and then gave 110% to physical therapy. I worked out on my own over the holiday break and I cannot wait to be back on the court. I look forward to again, working hard to be a competitive college athlete and leader for my teammates.
I am a hitter/defensive specialist who also has years of club experience playing MH/MB. I am quick at the net. I have also been a backup setter, as my first few years of playing were focused on setting.
In my 2021 high school season as our starting OH, I also had 105 digs. I am comfortable on the court, wherever I am needed.
As a 5ft 9in hitter, I am currently touching 9ft 8 in and I work in my free time to increase that. I have been noticed by college coaches for my ability to "find a way to put the ball down" and "find accurate shots".
I truly enjoy being around teammates with positive energy. Focusing on the next play and not letting a bad play get me down is a strength I bring to my team. When my team is struggling I will keep talking and encouraging. I like to stay disciplined for myself and my team, and I focus on improving my athleticism off the court as much as skills on the court. I look forward to continued strength/cardio training in college.
I will bring versatility and consistency to the court. As a collegiate volleyball player I will work hard to fill any position that my team needs to be the best we can be!
Here is a portion of an article from PrepDig.com in which I was featured (https://www.prepdig.com/2021/05/four-2022-region-7-hitters-on-the-rise/):
"Sidney Haysley is a junior outside hitter from Seneca High School. Haysley led Seneca in kills in 2020 and is on the verge of making an even larger impact during her senior season. Athletic and agile, Haysley possesses strong jumping ability and digs for quick attacks routinely."
Here are some of my favorite comments I have recieved:
"You are the most improved player I have ever coached, I am so proud of you." Coach Bob Dunn who coached me on my 14s team in 2018.
"There is no quit in her! I love her energy." - Sheila Thiery, Collegiate Scout, Cincinatti, OH
Thanks for viewing my profile. I look forward to learning about new opportunities to continue competing.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
