Hi Coaches! My name is Marion Glinski and I am an Outside Hitter from Hampden, Maine. I play at the varsity level for Hampden Academy, and I also participate on the Ellsworth Maine Juniors satellite team. I do enjoy hitting, especially when there's no better feeling then getting a kill, but I would thrive much better in college being a DS/Libero. Due to my high schools rotations, I find myself often in the backrow and I have formed a love for passing just as much as hitting.
In college, I hope to make life-long lasting memories with new friends/teammates that will become my family away from home. As someone who loves to meet new people, being thrown into a group of people I've never met before is not something that has scared me away previously. I also hope to not only excel on the court but also in my classes as well. I wish to major in something related to graphic design, visual communications, visual media, something of that nature. With this, I hope to help design websites, create logos, and just overall help people make their vision(s) a reality.
I have always been a natural-born leader. Due to this, I have never been worried to stand up for the underdogs, taking charge, and listen to others. Being a natural-born leader has helped me through my academic and athletic career in ways I wouldn't have expected. I am good at delivering speeches and making sure everyone is heard. I am also a team player while still being a leader. I recognize that volleyball is not a one-man show. That's why I love it so much. The game can't go well without teamwork, which is something I value a lot.
One thing that sets me apart from other recruits is that I always try to have fun. Within past years playing softball and even volleyball at times, I found that no one was enjoying themselves. They just wanted to be serious all the time and never relax for just a second. I rarely watched anyone just take a breath and remember why they were there in the first place, to have fun. Sports are so much more than just winning, even though winning is great, sports are about making lifelong memories, building skills that can be used in life, to have something to be proud of and motivated. Without the opportunities volleyball has given me thus far, I wouldn't be the person I am today, as cheesy as it sounds. I am hopeful to believe that every single recruit still loves their sport and remembers why they started but realistically, the chances are rather slim.
In the last 4 years, I have discovered a love for a sport I never thought was possible. I am so beyond thankful for everyone and everything that has helped and supported me along my journey. I can't wait to see where this sport takes me next
