Hi! My name is Anna Jackson and I'm a sophomore libero at Lansing Christian High School in Lansing, Michigan. I've always told myself to go big or go home. In recruiting me you'll see that spark ignites me to improve with every time I play. I'm a straight A student and I care more about learning than grades. I danced for seven years on a competitive dance team at Spartan Dance Center, then in seventh grade switched to volleyball which I've been playing ever since (3 years). I'm on the worship team at my school where I sing and play guitar, and lastly I work at my church helping out in Sunday school with the sweet babies! After high school my plan is to play volleyball in college and go on to history and English Literature. I love to read, analyze stories, and help others. Teachers and coaches call me steadfast, intelligent, and calm under pressure. I can't rest until I figure things out completely. I'm known to take the heat of a situation and make something good come out of it and I try my best to be as nice and kind to anyone who comes in my path!
Like I said, I've played volleyball since seventh grade. At first I wasn't that much of a fan. Volleyball changed for me when I went to a Michigan State Women's volleyball game against Penn State. I was completely blown away by the amount of control and precision that each player put into every play. That was when I committed to playing volleyball. The next year I played at school again and decided to try out club volleyball. I played with Attack for a three month season. I absolutely loved club and cherish lots of memories that I've made with past teammates as well as hard work and pay off during games. During that first club season was when I started playing libero which was a shift in how I played and understood the game. All of a sudden every part of me was in the game, desperately wanting to touch the ball, keep if off the ground and make a killer play out of it! It became my passion and something that I looked forward to doing. When the pandemic hit I was devastated. Attack's spring season was about to start but it was yanked away. I think the forced time off helped me become a better player. I worked on myself individually - both mentally and physically. I hit balls for hours into a lacrosse net, studied videos of college and high school volleyball games, and got some tips from good players on Youtube. Since I go to a small private school we were able to return to school in person soon after that. We had a good volleyball season when I went into ninth grade. My Junior Varsity coach started me out as a middle but soon switched me to be the libero. It was a perfect fit! After our school season I wanted to keep playing so again I tried out for a club team. This time I chose the Ballistic Volleyball club in Lansing, Michigan. I was put on a six month team as libero . I've had the most fun and improved more with this team than any other team that I've been on in the three years that I've played. I've made so many friends, memories, fixes in my play/techinque, and generally how to be a better player with a better mindset and attitude! I love how volleyball challenges me mentally and physically to keep growing into a better player and person. I wish the season never ended!
