Hi, my name is Paige Slone. I first started playing volleyball in 2nd grade and instantly fell in love with the sport. I have played 4 years of club volleyball. I am a 5”8 L/DS/S. I have played volleyball through my highschool program since 7th grade and was on varsity my freshman, sophomore, and junior year. This past winter I played on a 16-1s open/premier team as a DS/L, but for my highschool team I am a six- rotation player that sets and hits OH. However, my primary position would be a DS/L and being a S is secondary but it is still on my radar.
As a libero, my ultimate focus in defending is never letting the ball hit the floor. Being a defender you have to have heart and have to want every ball that comes over the net. No matter what you're not letting that ball hit the floor even if you have to throw your body to it. You have to have a strong mental mindset and be prepared to have every ball come to you.
I’m a very coachable and hardworking player. I will work hard for myself and for the good of my team because we want to be not only competitive but also win. Playing volleyball has allowed me to have a strong work ethic. During the off season, I train to get myself ready for the upcoming volleyball season doing such things as strength conditioning with my trainer, running and just getting my body stronger to become a more solid player when we are in season. I am always striving to become a better player. During club season, there is weekly training that gets me in the gym. We practice up to three times a week for 2 ½ hours.
I would love the opportunity to play volleyball at the collegiate level while also pursuing my academic goals. School is very important to me. I am an A, B’s student and I have a 3.4 gpa. I have learned to balance school and volleyball because academics come first. I would love to pursue my major in business administration and marketing because I am good with numbers and I love problem solving.
