When I first started playing volleyball at the end of sixth grade, my whole life changed. When I found my love for volleyball, everything came together. The basic skills came to me quickly in my first year on a local team. The next travel season came and I tried out at Great Lakes Volleyball Club and made the 14U National team. To me, this was a great achievement considering I was not only able to make a national team, but I was also playing up in age. I have continued to play up in age level on National teams until the end of this 2016-2017 travel season. In the upcoming travel season I plan to play on a National team as well. However, I am now in my own age group on the Legacy 16U East team.
Along the way of becoming a better player, I learned to be loud, work hard and be encouraging on and off the court. I thrived in the competitive environment and it left me wanting more. Eventually, I was recognized for my hard work when multiple coaches named me captain of the team as well as MVP.
In addition to thriving on the volleyball court, I look to succeed and prosper in academics. Recently, I was a recipient of the 2017 AAU Volleyball Academic All-American Award. Along with this, I am in the top 25 students of my high school class of approximately 550 students. Therefore, as a leader both in school and on the court I feel I could be a great asset to a collegiate team.
