Hi, I'm Catherine Dobies and I've been playing volleyball for about nine years now. I guess you could say I am a swiss army knife - I have done it all on the court. As a 3 year starter and 2 year Captain (grad yr 2021) I worked very hard to change the culture on my high school team from one of apathy to one of yearning to achieve a goal and striving forward to achieve that goal. My contribution is to be as flexible as I can to my team and my coaches, meaning if they need me to set or play middle or whatever, that is what I will do. It is what I love to do. I continue to evolve as a player from middle as a 10 year old to OH/RS to now emerging as a 6 rotation with strong DS skills. I dance too but not competitively since was 4. It keeps me grounded and limber. I always give 110% at practice or on the court and keep a positive attitude, whether we're 20 points behind or ahead in the game. I believe in always building my teammates up to make them better than the day before. I may not win the awards and accolades but if my teammates do, then I know I have helped to get them their greatness.
