My name is Emily Lake, I am the starting outside and right side hitter at Owens Community College. Serving as Co-Captain, I am in my sophomore year. Our team competed in the 2022/2023 NJCAA National Championships and took home runner up. We are currently number 1 in our conference and 2 in the NJCAA overall rankings. Formerly, I was the right-side hitter for Bedford High School class of 2022. From a young age, I have been passionate about volleyball playing for my school and travel clubs. My strong work ethic and positive attitude have guided me as I strive to improve every day. I am a versatile volleyball player being able to play any position on the front row and back row. I am a team leader; I encourage my teammates by showing dedication, loyalty, respect, and being a positive influence on and off the court.
My goal has always been to play volleyball in college at the highest level of competition. Being an athlete has taught me that I love the preparation and working with a team towards a common goal. I’m willing to play any position to help my team and look forward to the college athlete experience. I am confident that a college experience will help me meet my full potential on the court and in the classroom.
Academics are my highest priority; I work to balance my dedication to my course load and also my dedication to my team. My first semester of college resulted in a 3.6 GPA and Deans list acheivement. I believe I am a role model to younger athletes, and take that seriously. In high-school, I was sn AP and honors student looked forward, as I still do, to being challenged and growing from those experiences. One of my strengths is being self-motivated as I never back away from a challenge. As I continue to discover my interests and talents, I am excited to discover a career that is satisfying. In between school and sports, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My coaches and family have been instrumental along the way by offering positive motivation. I hope I am doing the same for my team and future athletes
