My name is Alexa Dietz and I am a hard-working athlete who is an extremely dedicated volleyball player. I am an athlete who knows the game of volleyball but is always looking for a new way to challenge myself to get better.
My most important accomplishments were being awarded the AAU Academic All-American Award in 2021 and 2022, Suburban East Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention. Last season I was one of 6 players nominated for East Metro Player of the Year. I have been featured in the Star Tribune and Prep Dig articles as a featured athlete. Along with that, I was chosen to be captain of the East Ridge High School Volleyball team for the 2023 season. I have earned multiple awards with the East Ridge Volleyball team including, Most Improved and The Raptor award multiple years in a row which is given to the athlete that displays an outstanding team-oriented attitude. My most recent accomplishment is being one of 26 athletes in Minnesota to be invited to the Jordan Thompson Camp powered by Under Armour NEXT.
I have been playing volleyball since I was 11 years old. I have been playing at the club level since I was 12. I started on the JO 12-1s team at East Ridge, then made the Kokoro 13-2s team. For the past four club seasons, I have played for Northern Lights in Burnsville Minnesota making the 14-Red, 15-2s, 16-2s, and 17-2s teams. As an 8th grader I played on the 9A team at East Ridge, then making B-Squad my 9th-grade year. Sophomore year I was on the Junior Varsity team but had the opportunity to play Varsity halfway through the season. Last season I was the starting Middle Blocker for the Raptors Varsity Volleyball team helping lead my team to a 3rd place finish in the State Tournament.
I got recruited by the University of Memphis to play Division 1 volleyball but due to a coaching change at the end of the fall of my freshman year of 2024, I decided to enter the transfer portal in the winter.
Knowing that I am capable of playing volleyball in college makes me more motivated to sharpen my skills and continue to do big things. I can offer your team an athlete that is hard-working and positive. I have a team-oriented mentality and believe that we are only as good as our attitudes towards the game. I bring a positive, energetic attitude to every team I am a part of and pride myself on being a great teammate. I am always first on the court and last off!
When it comes to choosing a school my options are very big and open. However, I am looking for a school that has an academic level of 2.5 or above. I am mainly interested in schools in the south, southwest, midwest, and southeast regions of the United States, but I am open to going anywhere. I am open-minded when it comes to schools and simply want to find one that suits me best. It doesn’t matter the size or location, as long as I am able to continue playing volleyball, I will be happy! My top choice for a major right now is Marketing and I would like to minor in entrepreneurship/management. I want to pursue a career in Marketing because my ultimate goal is to start my own business one day and find a job in the sports marketing world.
My athletic goals are to continue to play the sport I love at a highly competitive level! Another goal of mine is to become a role model for younger athletes. As a ‘shorter’ middle, I want to show the younger generation that no matter what anyone tells you you can achieve all of your goals, and your height or physical attributes do not determine your success as an athlete. At the end of the day, knowing I made an impact on my team would put a smile on my face!
