Hi, I'm Christy, 16 years old, 5'3, 115lbs, libero/DS from Las Vegas, Nevada. I attend Southeast Career and Technical Academy and major in Sports Medicine with a 3.971 unweighted GPA. Volleyball entered my life about 2 years now and I'm so happy it did. It started out as a fun hobby that I was thrown into by my friends, but it quickly grew into a serious passion of mine. I train almost every day, on the court, in the sand, and in the gym working on my weaknesses. I have competed in several tournaments around the Western US with my club team and my varsity school team.
I have won first in the Silver Bracket at Boulder City Invitational, 2nd in Gold at Jam on It (AAU), and a Hustler award. I've also had the honor to compete in the Premier Volleyball League and took 1st in Silver during one of our tournaments with my 16's Black club team. If my coaches could describe me in one word, it'd be fearless. I do whatever it takes when pursuing a ball, and I never give up! I may not always get the ball up, but I am working hard every day so that one day, I will! I bring energy to the court, no matter what situation we are in and always motivate my teammates regardless of the score.
In my opinion, having a strong mentality is the most important aspect of the game. I keep a strong mindset by remembering to breathe and stay controlled while on the court. I motivate myself by remembering my goals and thinking about how hard I am working to achieve them! This helps me always give my all.
I have always believed in shooting for the stars, so my dream is to play at a D1 or D2 college, but I am more focused on finding a college that will be the right fit for me and both my academic and athletic levels. As a Nevadan, I would prefer a school in the Western US; I am familiar with the colleges in this region and I would only be a few hours drive away from my home. As for my regions of studying, I currently major in sports medicine in hopes of becoming a physical therapist or biologist one day. I would need a school that offers either a Health and Medicine or Biology program, so I can continue my academic path. Regardless, I am open to any school, western or not, as long as I get to fulfill my dream of extending out my volleyball career to college so I can grow and improve. I will continue to improve and put in all the effort I can into volleyball as I live out high school. Thank you for your time!
