Briana Martinez '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Briana Martinez and i am a senior at Colts Neck High School.  All my life I have been a multi sport athlete. In middle school, I would play gym volleyball and I was told by several of my classmates that I should play vollleyball competitavely. In 7th grade, I decided to head out and attend a summer volleyball camp.That decision is one of the greatest decisions I have ever made . I remember at camp seeing girls and boys in high school playing at such a high level and from that moment on  I knew this is what I wanted to pursue. I grew a realshionship with some of the girls from the camp who now play club, D1, and  D2 volleyball . I have attended that camp every year since the end of 7th grade. I worked so hard to grow to be a strong volleyball athlete. With my size I knew it would be a challenge, but everyone and  anyone that knows me, knows that I never give up. At the end of my freeshman year volleyball season, I started practicing with the varsity girls and I knew that I would be able get to the level I wanted to be at. The volleyball program at my highschool  is very good. Going into my freshman year, the girls team  were A North champs for 2 years in a row and won it again that year.  My sophmore year I made varisty. I knew there were big shoes to fill and if I wanted a starting spot I needed to work harder than any other girl on my team being so young. I ended up starting as a Sophmore in the back row and was the first server every game. That year we ended the season with no losses in our division and only four losses outside the division. In my junior year, my team accomplished something that had never been done before. We made it to state semi finals. I love this sport and will work hard to further my passion and athletisism in college.
