When I think of college, volleyball is the first thing that comes to mind. I fell in love with the sport my freshman year of high school and it became a strong passion of mine. I honestly eat, sleep, and breathe volleyball. I can’t go a day without watching a game of volleyball. But before I knew it, my four years were up. I ended it off with 216 digs as a libero and achieved First Team All Conference.
Achieving First Team All Conference my senior year was very memorable for me. I knew I wanted to be a libero when I first started but I never quite believed I could do it. So, ending off my high school career with such an achievement under my belt filled me with a sense of pride. Although it was my award, I couldn’t have done it without my coach and teammates. My coach pushed me to the best of my ability, he gave me the opportunity to showcase what I can really do. My teammates were there for me when I got into my head, they were there for the smiles and laughs, they made my years.
Sports may be a big part of my life but my academics are still very important to me. I admit I could’ve done better my freshman and sophomore year but the Covid-19 pandemic got the better of me. I wanted to change so my junior and senior year of high school showed just that. My goal was to aim for honor roll and eventually graduate into high honor roll. I did just that and I intend to earn high honor roll my entire senior year of high school.
I also believe sports have impacted who I am as a person. I’ve always worked well with others but great sportsmanship throughout the years is what taught me a lot. My coach always says that volleyball is a team sport no matter how you look at it. It’s a collective effort and that’s an important factor I’m looking for in college sports. A collective effort combined with passion and hard work is what I desire. I hope it’s what all coaches desire!
