Hello! My name is Joanna Mas and I am currently a junior at Eastern Christian High School. When I was younger, I was always hesitant to take part in team sports because I never felt passionate about athletics. However, this changed when I joined my 8th grade volleyball team where I found myself to be completely enthralled by volleyball. During my 8th grade season, I did not get much playing time. Instead of being discouraged, this motivated me to better myself as an athlete and the following year, I made my high school team. I am very dedicated to my academics and every single year I have maintained a 3.9 GPA even while juggling volleyball and all of my other extracurriculars. In both my academics and my athletics, I use my own shortcomings to motivate myself to overcome those obstacles and become the best student and player I can be.
