Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Bianca Barreto! I am currently a Libero; however, I have also played DS in the past. After my senior year in high school I will have played volleyball for 9 years, as I have been playing since I was in 4th grade. My goal in volleyball is to continue to grow as a player both in skills and mindset, as I believe that there is always room for growth, and that mental and physical health are equally important in athletics. I was the captain on my high schools JV team my freshman year, as well as having been the captain on my club team since 8th grade. I personally believe that I was chosen for this role as I am constantly cheering my teammates on whether that's while I'm on the court, or on the sidelines. I believe it is extremely important to support one another with encouragement and positivity, even if we are up or down during the game. I also think it is extremely important to help provide energy on and off the court as it creates chemistry, which is extremely important to playing and communicating with one another as team, as well as creating confidence in our performances. Being considered a leader on the team, as well as embracing the role of my position in the back row, it's important to me that I am able to allow for clear communication between our offense and defense before, during, and after plays, so that we can better ourselves and put our absolute best foot forward. I wish to be able to apply all my skillsets in the collegiate level as I want to be able to support the team to the best of my ability, while continuing to grow as a player and person. I also want to continue to grow my personality, character, curiosity, and passion for wanting to learn and succeed in the academic setting as I am interested in pursuing a career in the sports medicine field. I personally believe that academics and athletics are important aspects of my life that I wish to continue to grow in as a person to better myself, and those around me.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
