My name is Susana Stevens and I was born in Las Cruces, NM where I attend Centennial High School as a Senior. I am 5’11 and 145 lbs. I play Volleyball as an outside hitter and defensive specialist. I have been playing volleyball since I was 13 years old. Before that, I was a competitive swimmer and a hard core ballerina. I love being a volleyball player! I respect the game, thrive on the competition, and appreciate being a part of a team. I have had the opportunity of learning the game from many different coaches at different camps. I practice with my high school team everyday and with my club team three times a week. When I am not working on volleyball technique and court awareness, I am in the gym lifting weights, working on core strength, and doing balance therapy. I am a dedicated athlete.
The majority of my day is dedicated to academics. Being a student with dyslexia makes me a creative and curious individual, who thinks outside of the box. I see the world differently! I am a self motivator and a disciplined student-athlete. I am a holistic learner which makes me very coachable. I have great intuition and am very insightful, which helps me see patterns and make connections easily. I have superior reasoning skills and am able to negotiate on and off the court. I maintain focus in class, apply myself to tasks and take advantage of my learning opportunities. I make sure that I am organized and prepared everyday. I am highly aware of my environment on and off the court. I have been blessed with supportive parents who have taught me to embrace my exceptionalities and advocate for myself. I am proud to be a Student-Athlete.
I participate in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and just attended our state leadership conference. I ride horses, go to church, volunteer in a 2nd grade classroom, and beat both of my brothers in skeet shooting.
I am motivated to play volleyball at the university level because of the love and respect I have for this game. I thrive on the unity of a team, I crave the competition, and I hope that I will be able to perform with other athletes that have the same performance and outcome goals as mine.
In college I would like to focus my studies in the medical and therapy realm. I plan to become a Physical Therapist. I would like to own my own clinic where I would be able to help young athletes achieve their goals.
