Hello, my name is Amber Fox and I attend Manchester High School where I am currently a junior. At home I have two loving and supporting parents, who have sacrificed so much for me to play the sport that I love. I also have a older sister who has been a great role model for me, and she always encourages me to follow my dreams. Being in a small school like Manchester, I have created a lot of strong friendships that have helped me to grow as a person throughout the years. At Manchester there are many excellent teachers who have really motivated me with my academics. While being in all advance and A.P. classes can be challenging at times, I have been able to manage my grades and keep a 4.0 gpa. This shows the dedication that I have for my education because my classes comes first to me, so I always take the time to get all my assignments done first.
As for volleyball, I first found the game in fifth grade when I went to school camps. I instantly fell in love with the sport because of the teamwork and skill needed to succeed at it. When seventh grade tryouts came around, and I was cut from the team I was devastated, but I didn’t let it stop me. I became the team manager and worked every day to become a better player, and half way through the season I started to play in games. I decided the best thing for me as a player was to continue to improve through playing J.O. volleyball with Elite Sports Ohio in the off season. When coming up to high school I was nervous, but continued to practice and improve. My freshman year I was selected to play for the varsity and was even a starter. This shows the dedication, determination, and hard work that I put into volleyball in order to improve my skills and knowledge of the game. I have mainly been a middle blocker, but have also played as an outside hitter. My speed, timing, and court awareness are my best strengths at the net. Overall my positive attitude and communication skills have been a major impact on my previous teams, as can be see through my leadership has a junior captain for my high school varsity team.
As of right now my college interest is teaching, but sports medicine has also sparked my attention. Many teachers have had an impact on my life, and I want to be able to do the same by educating and motivating young children. The subject I have connected to the most in school is biology or chemistry, and I would want to further my knowledge in these fields.
Overall, I am a determined and hardworking individual, who doesn’t take no for an answer. I am excited for the future, and ready to become a positive student-athlete for the college I am blessed to partner with.
