My name is Elena Stone, and I am a Class of 2025 starting Pin Hitter and DS for my high school varsity team and nationally ranked club team. Since my first volleyball season at school in 3rd grade, volleyball has been the biggest part of my life and my greatest passion. My ultimate goal is to play at the college level for a D1, D2, or D3 program that fosters a team family environment and provides a balance between academics and volleyball. My goal is to pursue an economics and/or business major with a career aspiration of international business and hospitality.
I attend a rigorous college prep school where I have started for the varsity volleyball team since my freshman year and started as a six rotation outside hitter in the 2023 school season. My team posted the most winning season in school history this season, making it to the Regional Finals. We came two points shy of the Ohio DIII state semifinals in a five-set hard-fought thriller. I could not be prouder of my high school team and the grit and commitment everyone showed to making 2023 our best season to date. During the one month off-season, I am preparing for the 2024 club season with the 17 white national team at Tri-State Elite VBC as a pin hitter. I cannot wait to work with my teammates to make it the best season yet!
Through injuries and hard training throughout my volleyball career, the standard I live by has always been "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Even when things weren't on my side, or I had challenges in my skill or relationship with the sport, I have always been grounded by the fact that hard work and love for volleyball will get me through. I am truly grateful for the character and physical growth that volleyball has provided me with over the years, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for my academic and athletic aspirations.
