As a Junior at Gallia Academy High School in Gallipolis, Ohio, I was able to lead my Varsity Volleyball team to the district semiifinals. I have played volleyball since 3rd grade for a regional team that my mom coached for; I guess you could say we are a volleyball family considering my sister and I have both played from a young age and that our parents love to travel and watch us playing. Four years ago, I started playing at the Zenith Volleyball Academy in Columbus, Ohio which was a four hour trip at least twice a week. Last year, I played for ALETA Volleyball Club out of Athens, OH. We had a very successful season, and I improved my play under the coach's direction. During these times, I have continued to get straight A’s in my classes, to participate in service and social organizations in my community, and to improve my volleyball game and skills.
I am a very smart and methodical player and am very conscientious of where I am placing the ball based on the opponent’s defense and position of their hitters. I have attended Sports Performances Setters' Academy the last two summers and continue to learn and improve my game. I have excellent hands, setting a very hittable ball, and I’m a very consistent and strategic server. My setter’s defense has improved the most though, particularly my “hands up” defense, which in many cases has become a natural response when a hard hit is directed in the setter’s area of the court.
This year, I am attending the University of Rio Grande through the College Credit Plus Program, in which I am taking all of my high school classes, except for Algebra II. These classes will not only be on my high school transcript, but they will also count as part of my general requirements for the first year of college. I have been named to the Dean's List at URG because of my 4.0 gpa.
I want to play volleyball on the collegiate level while studying to earn a bachelor’s degree. I work hard and am committed to the goal. I work out four mornings each week with a personal trainer to get stronger and faster; I study hard and manage my studies to ensure that I’m always prepared for tests and assignments; and, I give 100% in everything I do. I would be an asset to any volleyball program, and I believe I could make an immediate impact as a player and teammate.
