Hello my name is Sydney Aucreman.
I fell in love with a game called volleyball, completely by accident, I assure you. Introduced in my seventh grade year, I received a flyer and thought why not, I had tried dance, guitar, piano and tennis. Yeah, those didn't work out to much, I would lose interest, and just quit. I made the team my seventh grade year, needless to say it was the first time I touched the ball. Most girls in my situation or the previous me would have just quit.
I wanted to know more about the game. So my parents got a volleyball net for our back yard. I remember I couldn't get my serves over that net. Everyday into the night, I practiced. They supported me, and practiced with me. I never gave up and I never backed down. This is what makes me a good candidate for your team, and your college. I am a very hard worker, very committed, dedicated and determined athlete. I am also very coachable, willing to adjust to anything my coach wants me or needs me to do. Eager to learn more from coaches and teammates to improve my game.
The love I have for the game, tapped something else in me that I was unaware of as well. Walking into a gym focused on getting stronger, I needed strength for the sport and become a better, stronger athlete. Stronger I became, not just physically, but mentally, which is just as valuable as physical strength when it comes to any sport. That was two years ago. I am now actively spending my time interning for my certification as a personal trainer at a crossfit gym, TruFit Athletics, when not in the school season.
Which has lead me to my major. I am planning on majoring in psychology with a minor in athletic training, coaching and nutrition.. I am aiming for a master degree in Sports Psychology.
I would love to help athletes/ non athletes tap into their own passion, like the one I have from my sport.Gaining strength and confidence in how to feed the mind and body as a whole. To become the best they can become. With my long term goal, to eventually open up my own drug rehabilitation center for treating addictions with fitness, nutrition, sports. With tapping into their dreams and helping them find a passion in life.
Funny how things come into your life, a path crossed, an opportunity given, that changes everything in you and for you. Volleyball has been a blessing in my life for sure, leading me to my future. All because a flyer and a coach, who gave me a chance on their team.
If you think I might be a good fit with your college and team, I would like the opportunity to speak with you.
