My dream is to play volleyball in college. I absolutely love the sport, and my weekends always consist of me live streaming and/or watching replays of collegiate games throughout the country. In 8th grade, I made NPJ's 14-3 team, as I was an inexperienced player. At first I struggled with the fact that I was not on a team as competitive as I wanted it to be, but I learned to use my frustration to fuel my determination to get better. The following year, I greatly improved, and played for NPJ's 16-2 team. Still, I wanted to be better. So I continued to work tremendously hard not only on my volleyball skills, but on my mental game, athleticism, and leadership skills. This club season, I made the 18-1 team at another club, and the 16-1 National team at NPJ that I had always dreamed of playing for. We were ranked #2 in Oregon before COVID-19 ended our season. Seeing my hard work pay off is only more motivation for me to continue to work to improve every aspect of my game.
In addition to indoor and beach volleyball, I am a varsity runner on the Bend High track team. As a freshman, I competed at the OSAA 6A State meet on our 4x400 relay team. It was a great opportunity for me to perform under pressure as a young athlete, and our girls team took 3rd overall! At the end of the season, I was given the Bend High Track and Field Rookie of the Year Award.
In school, I am a straight A student and thrive when academically challenged. For this reason, I am a part of the International Baccalaureate program, and I hope to graduate with an IB diploma. I recently scored a 1280 on my PSAT, which falls into the 95%ile. In college I plan to go into a STEM related field.
I pride myself as being a leader on and off the court, as I was the captain of two of my last three volleyball teams. My goal every game is to be vocal, positive, and uplifting for the team, while maintaining focus and making sure I do everything I can to give my team the opportunity to score. No matter what position I am in, I can be counted on to lead, and try my hardest on every play.
