Thank you for letting me introduce myself to you. My name is Camryn Thomas, I am a middle hitter/blocker at Otto-Eldred Jr.-Sr. High School in Duke Center, PA. I'm graduating in 2018, and I would love to continue my volleyball career by playing in college. I am a 4 sport athlete and have achieved a lot of success over my high school career, including league all star & MVP, All-district team, Maxpreps player of the week in the state of Pennsylvania, and qualifying for Junior Nationals for volleyball. For basketball, I have been chosen as a league all star, District 9 all star, and was named to the All-state team. I also compete in track & field, where I broke the school high jump record and competed at districts. Softball is my 4th sport, where I have been named defensive MVP.
Academically, I am a high honors student, a Peer Helper, and a member of the National Honor Society. I have received the Presidential Academic Fitness Award and the Citizenship Award.
Volleyball is my passion! My older sister was a volleyball standout, played club volleyball, and was recruited to play in college. Watching her grow as an athlete and a person, I wanted to be just like her! I have worked so hard to get where I am, and I know that I have more to learn. Volleyball (and sports in general) has shaped me into the person that I am today, by instilling in me a confidence, drive, and hunger to continually improve myself, not just as an athlete, but as a student and a human being. I have a great work ethic, an upbeat attitude, and always give 100%, no matter what the score is. I have been told by my coaches that I have great court sense, reading whatever the situation is and adapting to it. I have been a varsity captain for 3 years and I work hard to mentor and encourage everyone on my team. I recently reached 1,000 kills (through 250 sets) and was honored to be the first player from my school to achieve this. I am also 69 points away from 1,000 in basketball. I am always trying to set new goals and work very hard to achieve them.
I want to study criminal justice with a focus on Homeland Security, with a minor in foreign languages.
Thank you for this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.
