At age eleven, my interest in volleyball was sparked when I would help my older sister practice setting in our backyard. Quickly, my love for the sport expanded beyond just wanting to be like my sister and became a true passion. Shortly after, I discontinued gymnastics and dance to focus entirely on bettering my skills. My goal was to make the 7th-grade team for my school. It was arduous at first, but my athleticism, perseverance, and drive allowed me to catch up fast. After achieving my first goal of playing at school, I hit another goal and was accepted to my first travel team at Premier Volleyball Club. With my increasing volleyball IQ and skills, and numerous camps and clinics, I accomplished my third big goal and was accepted to play for Delaware United Volleyball Club. I learned to appreciate the benefits of hard work and goal-setting and made my high school’s varsity team as a starter during my freshman year and becoming Captain by junior year.
From the start, I have been told that I am a very coachable player. I love constructive criticism, take note, and focus on applying it to my next play. I am grateful that when faced with a strong opponent, my instinct is to up my game by playing harder and smarter.
Growing up I have been surrounded by amazing role models who have and continue to make me a better person on and off the court. My parents have taught me to set goals, use visualization, and to see every situation as an opportunity for growth. I am big on self-responsibility and believe that court time is a privilege that must be earned.
Volleyball has not only provided me with lasting friendships but also has taught me valuable lessons. It is one of the most mental sports out there, and it has shown me that I can accomplish anything as long as I have the right mindset. This aspect is my favorite part of volleyball, and I strive to continue to grow and deepen my depth of understanding of the sport.
School is just as important to me as volleyball, and I like to bring the same intensity to my studies. I continue to receive distinguished honors and rank high in my class. My ultimate objective is to pursue a major that is centered on health and helping others. It would also be a dream to one day coach and inspire young athletes. Finding a college that is the best fit for me both academically and athletically is my top priority.
