Personal Statement

I started playing volleyball in seventh grade and instantly fell in love with the sport. Since then, volleyball has become a significant part of my life and has helped me to grow as a person on the court, as well as in everyday life.

I am currently a junior at Lancaster Mennonite High School and was a varsity starter during the 2015 and 2016 season. My freshman year I was the starting libero and helped lead my team to a section title.  My sophomore year I was starting as a defensive specialist and outside hitter and played all six rotations. My junior year I was an OH/DS. I have been 1st team All-District and 1st team All-State for two consecutive years!

I am a very determined person and will always give 110% in everything I do. One unique characteristic I have is being able to learn things quickly. I have an open mind and will constantly push myself to improve athletically and academically. I also have a high game IQ and bring tons of energy onto the court! Since I started playing volleyball, I have had the experience of playing every position (middle hitter, setter, outside hitter, opposite, defensive specialist, and libero). I also compete in grass and beach doubles tournaments throughout the summer. The knowledge I have received from playing so many positions and doubles tournaments has helped me to communicate better with other players, understand rotations, have court awareness, and be able to learn and fully understand the game.

My academic goal for the rest of high school is to achieve a 3.8 to 4.0 GPA. As for college, I’m looking to attend a school that will challenge me athletically and academically and help me to become a successful individual in the future. I am open to all divisions and will keep an open mind to every school I come across. I'm extremely interested in majoring in biology and hope to pursue a career in that field of study.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
