I am Libby Smith, a pin hitter from Lititz, PA. I have been playing volleyball competitively for five years. As I enter my senior season as our Varisity Team Captain, I am looking forward to continuing my volleyball career in college. I love competing and playing to win. I know that college playing will give me the opportunity to play at a higher level. It's always more fun competing at a fast and high intensity pace. Aside from family, my volleyball friendships have been some of the most important ones in my life. I like having a group to go to that is outside of school and work. It creates bonds that you don't get sitting in a class room. I love having a volleyball family that supports each other, motivates me to work hard, and is fun to be around.
I believe I will be an asset to a college team. I am a very flexible player on and off the court. I enjoy working with coaches who talk to me about my mistakes and help me to find ways to correct them. I was a middle blocker for four years and recently moved to outside and right side. I am currently working on being an all-around player for my club team and I plan to be there by the school season. I've had to step in to many different positions, including setter, though out my volleyball career. That has shaped me into being a very flexible and reliable player. While I no longer play as a middle, I value the time I spent there learning to read opposing middles and working closely with setters. I know that I will continue to be an asset at the net.
I am looking for a college with a strong Art or Interior Design/Interior Architecture program. I have grown up in a close knit town and I hope to find a similar feel at a college that values a sense of community in the Northeast region. I am interested in playing DII or DII where I will have an opportunity to play with girls who challenge me to be my best and grow as a player and person.
I am quiet and reserved off the court. On the court or the sidelines, you won't find anyone who cheers or works harder for my team. I know that when given the chance, I will be an asset to any team and my teammates and I can't wait to further my volleyball career.
