My name is Gina Lee Rivera and I am a Senior at San Benito High School in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. I’m 17 years old and I graduate on May 2018. My volleyball coaches consider me an outstanding player and I am very interested in pursuing volleyball at the collegiate level with a competitive academic reputation. Within my goals is to obtain a university scholarship for playing volleyball in the United States. So, I am working hard and being focused to achieve that. I would like to study Business Administration and then enter the Law School
I am currently the starting Libero for my High School Team and my club team Vaqueras of Bayamon. In 2014 I was chosen to be part of the Puerto Rico Junior National Volleyball Team, in the category 15U. During that year, we represented Puerto Rico at "High Performance Tournament" in Tulsa, Oklahoma; obtaining the Sub championship losing only the last game in the gold division. I had the privilege being coach by Mr. Humberto Rodríguez, known as one of the best volleyball coaches in Puerto Rico and International Volleyball Instructor. With Mr. Rodríguez, I knew the discipline that requires to be part of the National Team. Last semester (2016) my school team win the Puerto Rico High School National Volleyball Championship and I was selected for the All-Star Team. This year my Volleyball Club Team Vaqueras of Bayamon won the two Top PR Volleyball Tournaments, AAU Power League Super Regional Girls Tournament and the Jeep Volleyball Championship in the open category. In the last one I was selected to the All-Star Team. Also, I played at the 44th AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championships 2017 in Orlando, Florida. I believe I played an integral role in the team’s success because my solid defense skills and stable serve reception. One of my big dreams when I grow up is to be a professional volleyball player. Another of my dreams is to be part of the Puerto Rico National Women's Volleyball Team. I would also like to travel the world and be able to know about different cultures.
I consider myself a young leader, enterprising and determined. At the moment, I was chosen member of the National Honor Society of Colegio San Benito. My overall GPA average has been 4.00 since elementary school. My SAT score was 1050 but I’m looking forward to take it again to improve my score.
